There is a B plot involving the bevsrley series, I would guess, and it feels a bit wedged in and surprising, but as far as Napoleonic spy stories in romances go, neither the worst nor the best. The bulk of this story is their learning to trust each other – whether it’s a Lucien’s coming to terms with Beth’s lie and her independent nature or b Beth’s becoming comfortable with Lucien’s rather volatile temper and alpha approach to life.
They spar, sneer, bicker and mostly rub each other the wrong way- knwilling not in the sexual way.

She runs to him and doesn’t even care. I actually like the plot of how and why the plain bluestocking and the blond Adonis are forced on each other. One person is outraged and tries to defend her.

Jan 17, Angela rated it did not like it. Reading one of your novels is like wrapping myself up in a cozy blanket and sipping some hot cocoa and marshmallows while beferley up with my teddy bear. Dragged a little at the very end, but overall I liked it. The thing I had the most trouble with is that one of their fights descends into violence. But there’s also violence.
