Feynman is very engaging when he speaks of how his father kindled his interest in science. My second major objection is that some of the book was so breathtakingly sexist that I thought it was a joke. I have held off on posting this review because I was never really sure what I a wanted to say about this book.

I listened to a conversation between two girls, and one was explaining that if you want to make a dichard line, you see, you go over a certain number to the right for each row you go up, that is, if you go over each time the same amount you go up a row, you make a straight line. I eventually stopped reading it. This is case where the phrase “It’s not you it’s me” most definitely applies.

I understand it was in its young days and that the methods were not always rigorous, ricahrd Feynman’s attitude struck me as one that would alienate someone in that field rather than inspire them to learn more about rigorous scientific practices.
One is that Feynman is very dismissive and condescending to fields of study he viewed as unscientific, like the emerging field of Psychology.
There was a lot of repetition, better to cut it out and provide me with more of his history or else more of his teachings. Dichard is a collection of things he said, and not very interesting as I thought it’d be. Why have they used “girls” as calculators just to do simple repetitive arithmetic and not the research? That ends my minor objections to this book. During his lifetime and after his death, Feynman became one of the most publicly known scientists in the world.
In feyman to his work in theoretical physics, Feynman has been credited with pioneering the field of quantum computing, and introducing the concept of nanotechnology creation of devices at the molecular scale. He was clearly a genius, but the few insightful pkacer, witty anecdotes and interesting facts about his life that are captured here do not – in my opinion – make it worth the odd pages.
I wasn’t the right target audience for this book. This book was a let down due to rihardsome overly technical sections etc.

Whatever your opinion of Feynman, you need to reconcile the fact that he’s got unbearably retrograde opinions: Let me honest and admit here and now that in matters relating to science I am woefully ignorant. They’re often charming, but I thought the commitment to transcribing exactly as he spoke to be too faithful, and ultimately it made me put the book down.
In fact, the book bills itself as the best of his shorter works but some of the pieces were transcripts of interviews so they really weren’t his works at all. Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account.
Those are actually two of my favorite books.
I’d have given it a 5 star if there were not so many backward opinions about women in it. Would you like to tell us about a lower price? I’d prefer to read a book Feynman deliberately sat descubrirr and wrote rather than these transcribed talks and interviews.
I enjoyed the story and reconciled the egotism with part of the package which allows some people rise way above the pack.
